A Goldilicious Wedding

Mica Musings

As a bride-to-be, I am constantly looking for fresh inspirations.  And did Aubrey Renee deliver!  This very talented photographer recently wrapped up a New Year’s Eve themed wedding shoot that is simply magical (and frankly very NYC with all the glitter and gold).  It brings together some of my favorite elements: GOLD (how brilliant is this dress?), flapper aesthetics, gorgeous velvety shades of plum, old fashioned cocktails…the list goes on.  The icing on the cake?  The gorgeous bride sported our Ave B bracelet!

Here are some snapshots. More photos from this shoot can be seen on her website here.

Destination Mountain Wedding – Matt and Liz’s Lake Lure Wedding Photo and Video

Asheville Photo & Video

CCP_0709

We adored capturing Matt and Liz’s wedding day at the historic Lake Lure Inn.  They held their ceremony under the gazebo by the lake, surrounded by the mountains on a perfect August day in Lake Lure, North Carolina.

These two brave souls are both high school English/Literature teachers and are living out their own epic love story.  They are both smart, thoughtful and eloquent writers that wrote each other THE most beautiful vows!!   They have two of the sweetest dogs that were huge catalysts in their relationship, so naturally they were a big part of the ceremony.  With Liz’s father as their minister and their dearest friends and family there to support them, we agree that it was one of the most heartfelt ceremonies we have ever captured.  The gazebo’s picturesque location is breathtaking and was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony.

The Lake Lure Inn, which is just a quick trolley ride away…

Winter White and Picture Perfect, those are the words we’d use to describe Claudia and Benjamin’s December wedding.  Our bride was up for anything, and by anything, we mean, cold, snow, wet and high heels didn’t stop Claudia and her hubby from getting some of the best pictures this year.

Claudia and Benjamin really wanted to spend as much time with each other for pictures that they decided to see each other before the ceremony.  We began the day at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Great Valley.  They were decorated so nicely for the holidays and provided a great backdrop for the  big reveal.  We headed to Eastern College for some spectacular pictures that you’ll see below of Claudia and Benjamin in love while the snow sprinkled down around them.  We had a great team of artists to capture the day.  The Artist Group out of New…

The Proposal

Christopher Cook Photography

Damon contacted me with an incredible idea I’d never considered. He wanted me to photograph his proposal. My mind started racing with the possibilities. First of all, YES! This is an awesome idea. Second, how? I immediately started racing through all the stories of investigative photojournalists I read about in college and the techniques they used: Hidden camera, tiny spy camera, long lens, etc etc. But it was Damon who came up with the elegant and simple idea.

I’d never met Damon in person, and he lives in California. It was essential that we communicate thoroughly so as not to miss the opportunity. The key here, or course, was to not blow the surprise for Damon’s lady, Anne. I scouted the location at Magic Island in Ala Moana Beach Park, and decided on a patch of grass with the Waikiki skyline and the marina with its hundreds of sailboats in…
